“The Last Days of Immanuel Kant” · account of the established daily routine before the later decline
Passage: Paragraph beginning “This general decline in Kant’s powers”
Timing & context
This recalls his earlier habitual bedtime. The next sentence explicitly says he retired at nine in 1802 and still earlier later on, so this entry is not his final-years bedtime.
De Quincey adapts German accounts by Wasianski, Jachmann, Borowski, and others; he was not an eyewitness. This calendar follows the habitual sequence in that adaptation. Lectures belong to teaching days, dinner length varied, and uncertain boundaries are labeled.
1795 is a representative display year selected by Typical Tuesday. The source describes an established teaching-era routine in the 1790s. It resumes Wasianski’s close association in 1790 and separately describes changes in old age; this is not the schedule of Kant’s final illness.
